Home of the Fallen So We May Stand graphic design

"10-42"

This page is in remembrance of all officers who have been killed in the line of duty.  I know it is not much considering the sacrifice they made.  May God bless and watch over us all.
Recently our department lost one of it's own.  Sgt. James Adkins served our department in almost every facet available from sheriff to his last assignment as court room security.  Sgt. Adkins fought harder than anyone I have ever known just to come to work.  His dedication to his job, his family and life itself is one of the most inspiring sacrifices.  Sgt. Adkins had retired less than two weeks before he became ill.  He lost his life to his illness less than a month after he left a job he truly loved.  Although, a bullet, nor bad guy was responsible, Sgt. Adkins was killed in the line of duty in one of the most common ways, Dedication.  Thanks Sarg..

"10-42" is the call sign for ending tour of duty.  Although these officers have completed their duties here on earth, I'm sure their sacrifice has forever touch our lives.

"10-7" is the call sign for out of service.  It is tradition for the department in which the fallen officer worked for to have their dispatch call out his call sign one last time on the radio and officially sign him "10-7".  There can't be a more heart breaking time for fellow officers when they here the unit offically signed out of service.

Just the other day I was shocked to learn that even after I put this page together I have forgotten some very important people.  A family member of a fallen officer had contacted our office and wanted if any of our officers would like to go have lunch with her daughter.  You see, her daddy's name is on the list above and the mother said one of the things she missed most was having her dad come and eat lunch with her!  Let's not forget that all the memorials in the world won't help those left behind get through this life missing someone they love.  If your office has lost an officer or has family of a fallen officer in your area, be sure we don't forget the family, they are the ones who have sacrificed the most (they gave the one they loved without a choice).

Just Daddy

To everyone else you were

That man in blue,

The hero to those in need,

The enemy to those who were doing wrong.

You were the one to call when things were bad,

You were a wonderful Son, Husband, Father, Friend.

You were always there when someone needed you.

The strong one in times of trouble

The shoulder that you could cry on

The one that you could count on.

You were someone special to everyone,

And every life you touched.

But to me...

You were just Daddy!
